What Do Your Teeth Say About You?
December 13, 2022
Teeth are one of the most important parts of a beautiful smile. Bright, white, and uniform teeth are often a sign of good oral health and can make you feel more confident in your beam. Though having a lovely smile can tell people a lot about how much you care about your pearly whites, it can say a lot more than that. What do your teeth say about you? Continue reading to learn about four things that people can tell based on your teeth.
#1: Biological Sex
One thing that your teeth say about you is what your biological sex is. By taking a look at someone’s pearly whites, you can get an idea of their assigned gender at birth. People who are biologically female often have teeth that are longer in the front and rounded at the end. Biological males tend to have squarer, longer lateral incisors.
#2: How Old You Are
Your teeth can also give someone a good idea of how old you are. This is because the teeth of young people tend to be more rectangular, and their incisors usually have rounder corners. Older people usually have more square teeth that are also shorter. This is because the average person will lose anywhere from 1 to 5 millimeters of tooth length during their life.
#3: Personality Traits
Believe it or not, someone’s pearly whites can tell you quite a bit about the type of personality they have. A few examples of this include:
- Competitiveness – Highly competitive people are more likely to chew ice as well as to clench their jaws. Because of this, their teeth may wear quicker or become chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
- Aggressiveness – People who tend to be more aggressive than usual usually have pointier, more pronounced canines. Aggressive people are also prone to brushing too hard or grinding their teeth, which is likely to become more apparent over time.
- Passiveness – Submissive or more relaxed people who aren’t used to being under stress often have canines that are flatter and more curved at the tips.
- Anxiousness – Anxious people are more likely to grind their teeth due to stress. This can cause
- enamel wear, weakened teeth, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) problems, and other issues.
- Social Butterfly – Those who enjoy regularly spending time socializing with others may show signs of this in their smiles. This is because common party activities such as drinking alcohol and smoking can cause dental problems like discoloration and enamel erosion.
#4: Risk of Mental Health Issues
Your teeth can also be a sign of how likely you are to develop certain oral health problems. According to research, doctors may be able to predict mental health risks using children’s teeth by analyzing their baby teeth alongside information about their family history.
Even if you generally live a private life, your smile may tell others things you didn’t think they would know. So, make sure to take good care of your pearly whites to keep things private and your smile looking its best!
